Ingredients
2 cups refined flour
2 tablespoons milk powder
½ cup Luke warm milk
¼ cup sugar
1 tablespoon yeast
½ teaspoon garlic paste
½–1 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
1 tablespoon salt, or to taste
¼ teaspoon olive oil / oil, plus extra as required
Warm water, as required
Butter, for greasing the tray
Oregano seasoning, as required
Process
Add some Luke warm water or milk to a mixing bowl. Add the sugar and yeast and mix well, making sure the yeast dissolves properly. Leave it for a few minutes. You will notice that the mixture becomes frothy, which indicates that the yeast is active.
Add the refined flour, milk powder, garlic paste, salt and black pepper. Mix well. Gradually add ¾ cup warm water and mix well.
Knead until you have a soft dough. Add the oil and knead again until the dough becomes smooth. Knead for approximately 15–20 minutes. Alternatively, you can knead the dough using an electric beater with a dough hook or a stand mixer.
Apply a little oil to the surface of the dough to prevent it from drying out. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for approximately 1½ hours.
After 2-3 hours, the dough should have doubled in size. Knead the dough once again to release the trapped air and gently deflate it.
Divide the dough into equal-sized portions and shape them into dough balls. Apply a little oil to the surface of each ball to prevent them from drying out. Cover and let them rest again for approximately 15 minutes.
Sprinkle some cornmeal or refined flour on your work surface. Flatten each dough ball with your hands and shape it into an average-sized chapati. There is no need to use a rolling pin; you can shape the dough entirely with your hands.
Sprinkle some oregano seasoning over the flattened dough and fold it in half.
Grease the baking tray with butter and sprinkle some oregano seasoning over it. Place the folded, uncooked bread on the tray.
Brush the top of the bread with melted butter and sprinkle some more oregano seasoning over it. Make small incisions across the bread where you want the breadsticks to separate after baking.
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Bake the bread for approximately 30 minutes, or until it becomes golden brown on top.
Your Domino's-style garlic breadsticks are ready! Cut the bread along the incisions using a knife and serve hot.
